The 2012 SoundTown festival, which was to have included a previously announced headlining set by Weezer, has been canceled. The gathering was set to take place over the course of three days, from July 26-28 at the Somerset Amphitheater in Somerset, Wisc., but poor ticket sales have shut it down. Other scheduled acts included Jane's Addiction, Florence + the Machine, Girl Talk and many others.

"We wish we didn’t have to share this news with all of our loyal fans: SoundTown Music and Camping Festival has been cancelled for 2012," reads a post on the fest's official website. "We would have loved to have SoundTown at the Somerset Amphitheater this year, unfortunately the ticket threshold wasn’t met and promoters had to make a difficult decision to cancel the event."

"I've been trying every single way to keep this thing alive," says Matt Mithun, who owns Somerset Amphitheater and was planning 2012 SoundTown after a successful inaugural SoundTown fest last year with headliners the Flaming Lips. "Looking back, I probably would have grown it a little more incrementally, more modest growth," he adds.

Refund information details will be posted on the SoundTown website soon. Some scheduled acts are being moved to other local venues, including Best Coast, JEFF the Brotherhood and Those Darlins, who are now scheduled at the nearby Cedar Cultural Center on July 28.
