At the tender age of 17, David Eric Grohl joined the D.C. punk band Scream as their drummer. After lying to Scream about his age, Grohl dropped out of high school and started touring. Then Melvins frontman Buzz Osborne introduced Grohl to a couple of dudes named Kris Novoselic and Kurt Cobain who were looking for a new drummer. And history was made. Grohl provided the extra kick the band needed, and in 1991, Nirvana became the biggest band in the world. After Cobain’s death in 1994, Grohl began the next chapter in his musical legacy with the Foo Fighters. After recording the first album by himself, Grohl put together a band and got back on the road. The Foo Fighters have maintained their place on top of the rock 'n' roll charts ever since. Along the way, Grohl drummed for other artists, including Tom Petty, David Bowie and Nine Inch Nails. He also found time to collaborate with many of the artists he loved as a kid to record the coolest vanity album ever, 'Probot.' After making a documentary on the studio where Nirvana recorded ‘Nevermind,’ the Foo Fighters frontman landed an HBO documentary series featuring other legendary studios.
