It's been a slow roll out for Franz Ferdinand, but the Scottish rockers will be making their U.S. return in August. The band recently announced their participation in Lollapalooza, and now they'll be staying the States for a little while longer after the high profile festival.

Franz Ferdinand have been out of the studio for several years now -- and their last few singles didn't even chart in most parts of the world -- but that doesn't mean their fan base has forgotten about them. Quite the contrary, in fact, as Brazilian police discovered during a recent festival gig that ended with some fans suffering the effects of pepper spray and tear gas.

As previously reported, Franz Ferdinand were set to unveil new music during their mini-tour in Ireland this past weekend. Franz were in Limerick, Ireland this past Saturday (May 19) and played four new songs.

While some are hoping Britpop veterans Oasis reunite after their breakup in 2009, don't add Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos to that list. The singer revealed that he isn't their biggest fan in a series of tweets.
