The BBC pulled out all the stops when they brought together some of today's brightest artists and musical veterans to cover the 1966 Beach Boys classic, 'God Only Knows.' Check it out in the video above.

To celebrate the launch of their new initiative, BBC Music, everyone from Lorde, Pharrell Williams and Dave Grohl to Elton John, Chrissie Hynde and Chris Martin joined forces to take part in this epic cover. What makes this even more amazing is the fact that the Beach Boys' Brian Wilson sings on the track and appears in the video sitting in front of the piano -- where we always knew him to be.

And he was very proud of how it all turned out.

“All of the artists did such a beautiful job I can’t thank them enough,” he told the Guardian. “I’m just honored that 'God Only Knows' was chosen. 'God Only Knows' is a very special song. An extremely spiritual song and one of the best I’ve ever written.”

Set in London's Alexandra Palace Theatre where the first BBC broadcast took place over 90 years ago, the song also brought in the voices of Stevie Wonder, Jake Bugg, Emeli Sandé, Kylie Minogue, Paloma Faith, Sam Smith, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, Brian May, Jamie Culum and more. The Tees Valley Youth Choir, along with the BBC Concert Orchestra, also took part in the rendition.

The project was modeled after the 1997 portrayl of Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day,' which featured also Elton John:
