Dave Grohl Says Queens of the Stone Age Are ‘The Baddest Band in the World’
It's only been a few weeks since Dave Grohl began his second stint as drummer with Queens of the Stone Age, but he's already laying down some serious smack. In a new interview, he heaped praise upon his current (and past) musical partners.
"When you walk into a festival backstage with Queens of the Stone Age, it's like, the record stops," he told BBC Radio 1 with the deftness of a star athlete after a big victory. "People stop and they stare, and it's like, Queens of the Stone Age are, without question, the baddest rock 'n' roll band in the world."
Of course, that does bring in to question what Grohl really thinks about his prime source of income, Foo Fighters (to say nothing of Nirvana). Still, Grohl sounds thrilled to be back pounding the skins again, and he's loving the creative freedom given to him by frontman Josh Homme.
"I'll do something so completely ridiculous, " he continued. "I'll just, like, 'There's no way that Josh is going to let me do that,' and he'll say, 'Do that for 45 seconds, over and over again, that's become, like, the part of the song, now that is a big part of the song,' and that's the way they work."
