In a perfect world, Depeche Mode's 1990 masterwork 'Violator' would have earned the British synth-poppers about a dozen Grammys. But as anyone who digs DM knows, this isn't a perfect world. Alas, our heroes didn't get the first of their five nods until 1995, and that was for the film 'Devotional.' Only one of their albums has been nominated, and as good as 2010's 'Sounds of the Universe' is, it's hardly the record you reach for when the Depeche mood strikes.

What do the Grammy folks have against the Mode? Is the music too dark? Too sexy? Is it those weird bondage outfits Martin Gore used to wear? In March 2013, the group released album No. 13, 'Delta Machine,' and it proved unlucky, garnering zero Grammy nominations.
