The Foo Fighters have surprise-released a storming new song entitled “Run,” which as you can see above, comes complete with another of their trademark high-concept videos.
The Dave Grohl-directed clip opens with the band heavily made up to look like much older versions of themselves, performing for the docile residents of a senior citizen home. However one elderly rebel, having secretly refused to take his medication, climbs the walls for a massive stage dive, setting the rest of his peers into a moshing frenzy just as the song shifts into overdrive.
Eventually they escape the facility entirely, learn about the wonders of blowing huge vaping clouds, steal a car and stage a choreographed dance scene that would have made Michael Jackson proud. You can buy the single at iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.
While there is still no official word on a new Foo Fighters album, this is the second song the band has debuted in recent weeks. Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins performed “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” at the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit in San Francisco last month.
In March, guitarist Chris Shiflett suggested the group had yet to hit the studio to record the follow up to 2014’s Sonic Highways. “I don’t know what our plans are, but we’ll make a new album when the time is right.” The Foo Fighters will touring overseas much of the summer, you can get complete details at their official website.
