Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters debuted a song entitled “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” at the Fillmore in San Francisco last night. You can watch the video above.

The occasion was the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit show thrown by Sammy Hagar and James Hetfield every year since 2014, with proceeds benefiting UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. With Hetfield currently on tour with Metallica, Grohl was recruited to take his place atop a lineup that also featured Hagar, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Don Felder, Mick Fleetwood, Vic Johnson, Sarah McLachlan, Steve Vai and Bob Weir.

As Grohl says, this was the world premiere of “The Sky Is a Neighborhood,” but it’s not the first glimpses of new music from the Foo Fighters that we’ve heard. Back in February, they played songs with tentative titles of “Keep Your Pretty Promise” and “Run With Me” at a surprise show at a club in England when they announced their headlining slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Foo Fighters only have one U.S. concert on their calendar for this year, the BottleRock Festival in Napa, Calif., over Memorial Day Weekend. But they have European dates booked through mid-September. The organizer of BottleRock suggested that the reason for the lack of U.S. shows is because they plan to hole up in the studio all next year working on their follow-up to 2014’s Sonic Highways.

Still, guitarist Chris Shiflett admitted that he wasn’t sure when they’re going to record. “I don’t know what our plans are, but we’ll make a new album when the time is right,” he said. “There will be a new Foo Fighters at some point.”
