Jamie xx (best known for his work with the xx) has decided to branch out into ballet: He won't be wearing the tights himself, but he did compose the score for Tree of Codes, a new ballet that debuted at the Manchester International Festival this weekend. Check out a couple brief clips of the ballet below.

The ballet takes inspiration from the Jonathan Safran Foer book and art project of the same name, for which Foer took Bruno Schulz's The Street of Crocodiles and physically cut out a majority of the words. The ballet is also the product of visual artist Olafur Eliasson and choreographer Wayne McGregor, the latter of whom also choreographed the (in)famous video for Radiohead's "Lotus Flower."

Tree of Codes will run until July 10 at the Manchester International Festival, which is also currently showing Wonder.land, the Alice in Wonderland-based musical for which Damon Albarn wrote the music. Check out our review of Jamie xx's solo debut here.
