Caleb Followill's personal life serves as a principal inspiration for the upcoming album from Kings of Leon. Due in October, this follow up to 2013's Mechanical Bull includes songs focusing on his battle with alcohol, a spooky moment with his spouse, and the death of a friend.

"Find Me" traces back to a moment spent in a Los Angeles hotel with his supermodel wife Lily Aldridge, Followill tells Q Magazine (via NME). "This is going to sound weird and a lot of people will roll their eyes, but she felt like it was haunted. When she tells the story, it’s the scariest thing. So, I took that and turned it into a love story."

"Over" traces back to a difficult period in 2011 when Kings of Leon were forced to cancel a tour while Followill dealt with his addiction. “That song is very personal, and to the people involved who know what that song’s about, it’s like ‘Holy s---,'" he says. "But if you look back on stuff that’s happened years ago, if it still means something you should write about it."

Kings of Leon's working title for this new project is reportedly We Are Like Love Songs, taken from the ballad "Walls," which deals with his friend's passing. “There are a lot of personal stories on this album," Followill admits, adding: "We're still hungry and still young at heart."

Followill confirmed that work had begun on these songs last December, telling the Associated Press that sessions were being held exclusively in Los Angeles – where Kings of Leon's first two albums were recorded.
