You won't have to wait until May to see Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck on HBO because the documentary will now be in theaters next month.

After screening the fully authorized final cut of the film at SXSW this week, director Brett Morgen announced the news on Twitter. Not only will the critically acclaimed film hit theaters in New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle on April 24, it will also open in New Zealand and Australia on April 30. The film will be showing cinemas in more than 70 countries beginning April 10, all leading up to its HBO premiere on May 4. "Within 90 days, the whole world will have access to the film," Morgen told Billboard at SXSW.

There's already been a lot of buzz around the the documentary. Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain even had a mother-daughter reunion at the Sundance premiere of the movie. In January, it was announced that there will be a book that is meant to accompany the film, which be in bookstores on April 7, according to Rolling Stone.

And although there are no specifics on the film soundtrack for the rock doc, the movie will feature a previously unheard 12-minute acoustic track.
