If nothing else, New Order deserve a Grammy for resilience. As everyone (except maybe your average Grammy voter) knows, the band rose from the ashes of U.K. post-punkers Joy Division, whose singer, Ian Curtis, committed suicide in 1980. It took JD's surviving three a couple of albums to find their voice, but find it they did, fashioning a dance-rock sound well ahead of its time.

By rights, New Order's hugely innovative 1983 single 'Blue Monday' should have generated some serious Grammy love and kicked off a decade of big wins, but the group would have to wait until 2006 for its one and only nomination, a Best Dance Performance nod for 'Guilt Is a Useless Emotion.' We generally agree with that title, though Grammy voters have plenty to feel guilty about.
