OK Go are one of the quirkiest and funnest bands you can see live and New York City fans were lucky enough to get not one, but two chances to see them live recently. The band rolled through the Big Apple in promotion of their forthcoming studio album, ‘Hungry Ghosts,’ due out Oct. 17, and we caught them at their first night -- a very intimate performance at Le Poisson Rouge (Sept. 18).

With an extensive career spanning well over a decade, it’s no wonder OK Go have such a loyal and passionate fan base. Lucky for those at the show, nearly a third of the band's setlist was made up of new tracks from 'Hungry Ghosts'; the night began with the fresh tune ‘Upside Down & Inside Out’ ... with lots of confetti. Both the new music and abundance of confetti continued throughout the night as the band cranked out the infectious tunes ‘Obsession,’ ‘The Writing’s On the Wall,’ ‘I Won’t Let You Down,’ ‘Turn Up The Radio’ and ‘The One Moment.’

Frontman Damian Kulash made fans laugh with his sharp conversation onstage, as well as taking very random questions from the audience. For ‘This Too Shall Pass,’ Kulash put down his guitar and hopped into the crowd to serenade fans up close and personal. For each song, there was something special and different, whether it was the psychedelic backgrounds onscreen or something more interactive with the audience.

A unique part of the evening was the performance of ‘There’s a Fire’; OK Go presented the “nerd part of the show.” In reality, it was very a collaborative experience with the crowd. Fans turned into the percussive part of the show as the band recorded a synchronized clap and stomp from the crowd which provided a background beat to the track. The memorable night came to an end with the very notable, ‘Here It Goes Again.’

Make no mistake about it, OK Go are about much more than just a witty music video and catchy song. The band continues to be refreshing and creative both sonically and in their live concert experience. Check out our photo gallery of their recent stop in New York City:
