At a gig in Santa Ana, Calif. last night, Rhye -- who are still touring behind their 2013 release Woman -- debuted a new song called "Waste."

The song was captured on video by a crowd member. "This record came out a long time ago, so I don't know if it's about time we started putting out some new songs..." said singer Mike Milosh, introducing the song. "Okay, so you're going to have to bear with us on this one. We actually just pulled this together during soundcheck, so this could be special, could be really bad."

The song -- like the tracks on Woman -- is sensuous and downtempo, washed out in organs and elevated by Milosh's high-pitched singing and long glissandos. "Going through them changes / going through them change s/ oh, I'm going through them changes," Milosh sings at one point. A softly funky bass riff filled in the gaps between verses; later, the band picked it up and grooved until the song dissolved in a synth drone.

"It's a risk playing a new track, but I think that was cool," Milosh said after the band wrapped up the tune. Rhye don't have any more stateside shows planned for the rest of this year, though they'll embark on a European tour that will take them through much of the summer and into the fall.
