Silversun Pickups Rock ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ With Two New Songs
Celebrating the release of their latest studio album ‘Neck of the Woods’ this week, Silversun Pickups stopped by the big stage at ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ last night, May 8, to perform a pair of new songs: ‘Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)’ and ‘The Pit.’
‘Neck of the Woods’ has already received some of the best reviews of the band’s career, including 4/5 from Allmusic and the Alternative Press, plus an 8.5/10 from Paste Magazine. (Our own writeup was a little less effusive, however.) Produced by Jacknife Lee (R.E.M., Snow Patrol), the new album collects 11 new tracks, including leadoff single ‘Bloody Mary.’
As we previously reported, frontman Brian Aubert says the ‘Neck of the Woods’ finds the band rediscovering elements of its earlier sound, and reincorporating “a playfulness and an experimentation that we lost a little bit of along the way.” Take a look at these performances and see if you can feel that playfulness coming through.
