News Bits: Muse’s ‘Panic Station’ Video Stirs Controversy + More
The Rock in Rio music festival is back, and this year’s lineup is shaping up to be an exceptional one, featuring headliners Muse, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Bon Jovi. The seven-day bash is set to run from Sept. 13-15 and 19-22 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Muse's next album is at least a "couple of years" away, but the British trio is still churning out singles off last year's 'The 2nd Law.' The latest, 'Animals,' comes with a new fan-made video that won a contest run through the website genero.tv. The competition saw "a huge number of brilliant entries," and after Muse narrowed things down to five finalists, fans selected the winner via online voting.
Muse have landed the top honor at the Q magazine Awards 2012, as the British trio bested the likes of Coldplay, Lady Gaga and the Stone Roses to be named Best Act in the World Today during a ceremony held on Monday (Oct. 22) in London, England. Muse led an impressive list of Q Awards winners that also included Blur, Bobby Womack, Keane, Pulp, Johnny Marr and Killers frontman Brandon Flowers.
