News Bits: Phoenix Premiering New Song Monday, Cribs Giving Away Demos + More
British visual artist and musician Martin Creed is perhaps best known for his controversial 2001 winning of the British art award the Turner Prize for 'Work No. 227, the lights going on and off,' an installation piece featuring an empty room with lights that flicker on and off. Creed numbers all his works, and thus 'Work No. 1431' is his music video for 'Anna,' the new single off the Cribs' latest album, 'In the Belly of the Brazen Bull.'
After duking it out in a battle of the songs with the Scissor Sisters' brand-new single 'Only the Horses,' the Cribs have become the latest winners in Diffuser.fm's Sound Off with their single 'Come On, Be a No-One.' As the reigning champs, the British trio will take on Metric and the quartet's 'Synthetica' single 'Youth Without Youth.'
Congratulations to Cake for winning Diffuser.fm's Sound Off for four consecutive weeks. Their song 'The Winter' dominated every competitor it came up against, and now Cake are official members of the Sound Off Hall of Fame. This also means that it's time for a new batch of competitors, and this week, the Cribs are going head-to-head with Scissor Sisters.
