Few breakups are uglier than the onstage split. The Jesus and Mary Chain were just three dates into a 1998 U.S. tour and three songs into that gig in Los Angeles when singer Jim Reid's sloppy drunkenness upset his guitarist brother William enough to walk off stage  -- and out of the band for good. "After each tour we wanted to kill each other, and after the final tour we tried," William later remarked. JAMC finished the jaunt without William, then called it a day -- only to mend their differences for a high-profile 2007 reunion that included a triumphant comeback gig at the Coachella festival.
