Blink-182’s Travis Barker Having Emergency Surgery, Band Cancels Tour Dates
Citing drummer Travis Barker's emergency tonsillectomy, the members of Blink-182 have announced the cancellation of all concert appearances for the month of May, including their scheduled May 19 set at the Bamboozle in Asbury Park, N.J.
Saying that Barker's surgery would require "a recovery period expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates," the band explained that it "apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancellations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support." Currently, two shows -- originally booked for May 10 and 11 in Thackerville, Okla. -- have been rescheduled for Sept. 13 and 14.
There are no plans, however, to reschedule a batch of other dates, including those listed below.
Blink's current tour supports their sixth studio LP, 2011's 'Neighborhoods,' recorded after an eight-year studio hiatus. The band has been on the road more or less steadily since announcing its reunion in 2009 -- and Barker will have his plate full later in the year promoting the latest album from his on-again, off-again side project Transplants -- so here's hoping they're able to use this bit of unplanned time off to rest and recharge their batteries for another healthy run of tour dates.
