Movie trailers usually tease bigger projects. But in their new video for 'Turn Off the Wave Machine,' the Canyon Rays showcase their new song with a trailer that looks like the real thing. You can watch the exclusive premiere above.

From the parental-guidance disclaimer at the start of the video to the accolades and awards that run throughout, we're a bit disappointed there's not a whole movie to look forward to after all this.

Following the journey of a relationship, the video is pretty much a boy-meets-girl story, complete with an in-and-out-love narrative. The song's lyrics, written by band founder Luke Hamel, convey more or less the aftermath of a breakup.

Among the stellar cinematography and muted colors of the video you'll find the California indie-pop group, which essentially plays itself as the house-party band.

'Turn Off the Wave Machine' comes from the Canyon Rays' debut album, 'West Coast Babes,' which is out on Sept. 2.
