Cat Power’s Next Album ‘Sun’ is Finished

Chan Marshall is a woman of many tweets but few words. The singer-songwriter known as Cat Power told her Twitter followers that her new album is done, and it's called 'Sun.'

Marshall spent the rest of the day responding to congratulatory tweets and questions from fans. She wrote "Haaa" when one fan parodied her announcement by writing, "I HAVE FINISHED MY QUESADILLA." Marshall also mentioned Sept. 11 as a release date, but it wasn't clear whether she was referring to a single or the album. Pitchfork says Matador Records aims to have 'Sun' in stores by the fall of 2012.

Cat Power's last release, 'Jukebox,' was released in 2008 and was composed almost entirely of cover songs. It reached No. 12 to become her highest-charting album to date.
