Global Citizen Festival -- the annual concert event dedicated to eliminating extreme poverty by 2030 -- took over the Grand Lawn in Central Park yesterday (Sept. 26). This marked the festival’s very first installment since Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took over as curator for Global Citizen’s live series, and he lined up a roster of headliners that included his own band, Pearl Jam, Beyonce and Ed Sheeran.

Earlier in the day, Coldplay soundchecked a brand-new song called “Amazing Day,” which they later unveiled during their set. Martin introduced the ballad by saying, “This is about the wonderful things on earth.” Hear them play the new song in the video up above.

While fellow Global Citizen headliners Pearl Jam and Beyonce teamed up for a special collaboration during the former’s set, Coldplay also hosted a pop star guest at the NYC festival. Martin and company brought out Ariana Grande for a duet of the singer’s “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart.” Watch the performance below.

It’s of course too soon to know whether or not “Amazing Day” will surface on Coldplay’s next album; however, the English rockers have been teasing a new full-length dubbed A Head Full of Dreams since last year. When that album arrives, it will follow 2014’s Ghost Stories.
