Wonder.land, the new musical for which Blur and Gorillaz leader Damon Albarn wrote the music, will run from June 29 until July 12 at Manchester's Palace Theatre as part of the Manchester International Festival. Today (June 26), Albarn shared a trailer for Wonder.land, which you can watch below via the Guardian.

The musical is is based on Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice In Wonderland, and is directed by the National Theatre’s Rufus Norri. Albarn had previously pointed out similarities between some of the supernatural elements of the story and life today, saying last week, “These rabbit holes exist on every single phone, and our kids disappear down them even though physically they’re still in the room.”

During the same conversation, Albarn also said of musicals, "It’s saccharine, it’s predictable, it’s cynical. That’s probably going to alienate me to a lot of people.” Then he backpedaled slightly, adding, “This is the first thing I’ve done where I feel like I’m in that world [of the theater workshop], and that’s what makes it so exciting.”
