David Byrne Expands ‘American Utopia’ World Tour
David Byrne is extended a tour he's already said would be his most ambitious since the Talking Heads' heyday.
Set for March through August, these stops include North and South America, the U.K. and Europe. The second leg of North American dates begins with an appearance during the first week of Coachella; as previously reported, he'll return to the festival after other stops across the Southwest.
He's on the road in support of the a forthcoming solo album titled American Utopia, due on March 9. This marks Byrne's first new solo album since 2004's Grown Backwards, and features a reunion with his long-time key collaborator Brian Eno. Also featured are Doveman, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jam City, Jack Penate and others.
The set list is scheduled to feature some of those new songs, as well as Talking Heads favorites. "This is the most ambitious show I've done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense, so fingers crossed," Byrne said when the first U.S. shows were announced, going into detail about a production where al members of the band would be mobile with a completely cleared stage. You can check out the full list of dates below and get ticket information at his website.
