Heather Maloney, 'Otherwise' Exclusive Premiere

With an exceptional mix of indie rock and Americana, Heather Maloney has crafted an unforgettable album with Making Me Break. Slated to hit the streets in late April, the new disc is a fascinating listening experience front to back, combining intricate melodies with dynamic musical arrangements and thoughtful lyrics -- culminating in one of the most exciting records we've heard in a long time.

“The sounds I love in indie rock are so lush, and textured, and intricate, like someone spent a lot of time on this, so they must really care,” she explains. “I am drawn to lyrics that are meaningful, intelligent, tell a story, paint pictures ... that care. So I just wanted to make an album that cared musically and lyrically.”

She knocked those sentiments out of the park with Making Me Break, and today (Feb. 25), Diffuser is thrilled to debut the music video for the LP’s single, “Otherwise.” You can check it out above.

Working with Bill Reynolds -- whose resume includes producing tunes for Band of Horses and the Avett Brothers -- Making Me Break highlights every single aspect of Maloney's vast talents, with "Otherwise" being a perfect example of the magic she creates in the span of just a few minutes.

From the catchy rhythms throughout the song to the elegant words she sings -- "The lyrics were always more poetry to me, so it was really stunning to watch it grow as a rock song" -- "Otherwise" is a song that, after just one spin, will find its way into your soul.
