Foo Fighters to Headline 2017 BottleRock Festival
The Foo Fighters have focused on Europe while building their 2017 tour calendar, but it looks like they've got their eye on the U.S. too.
Consequence of Sound reports that the band is set to headline the next BottleRock Festival in Napa, Calif., scheduled to unfold over the May 26-28 weekend. Although official confirmation has yet to come — a rep for the festival simply told CoS they'd announce the lineup today (Jan. 3) — it seems likely the reports are on target, judging from the band's social media feed.
In November, the Foos launched a "passport" website to let fans keep track of their 2017 travel plans, and while it hasn't yet been updated to reflect a BottleRock set, the band tweeted an image in keeping with the passport design — and pointing to the Napa area.
UPDATE: The news has been made official, with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Maroon 5 as the other headliners. Visit BottleRock's website for complete information regarding the other acts and ticketing information.
The BottleRock news continues a slow drip of tour information from the Foo Fighters, who seem to be working their way back to full-time action after taking a hiatus following the release of 2014's Sonic Highways album, HBO documentary series, and world tour. According to drummer Taylor Hawkins, while a new album is a virtual certainty, fans probably shouldn't expect to hear anything in the near future.
"We’re still in a hunker down period right now," Hawkins said last November. "We know we have those shows next year, and we did a charity event for Dave [Grohl]’s kid’s school a couple of weeks ago that got a little bit of press. We’re fine, we love each other, we’re all good. We’re just figuring out when the world’s ready for more Foo Fighters — we’re a family."
