Governors Ball 2014 – Day Three Recap

Unlike the previous two days, where fans just sorta streamed in at their leisure, festival goers made an effort to get to Randall's Island early yesterday to make sure they were there to see everything Governors Ball had to offer.

We started the day off with Half Moon Run, a indie-rock band from Montreal that admitted that it was in Toronto just the night before and barely made it in time for its 12:45PM set. Playing tracks from their 2013 album 'Dark Eyes,' they delivered music with a bit of southern twang along with its solid rock.

Meanwhile Cayucas, who played the same time slot inside the Gotham tent, brought their California sound to the New York stage. And considering how summery and hot it started to get at this point, their music made you wish you were at the beach with a icy cocktail in your hand.

With Jack Antonoff of fun. as the band's frontman -- as well as the center of the hype surrounding the New York City band's music -- Bleachers were the hottest ticket during the first part of the day. Even though the size of the main stage seemed to overwhelm Antonoff a bit, the band pulled off a great live show featuring songs from its upcoming album.

The Kills and Interpol, despite not having headlining status, drew spotlight-worthy crowds to their sets. The Kills' 12-song show included fan favorites like 'U R A Fever,' 'Heart Is a Beating Drum' and 'Black Balloon.' Watching frontwoman Allison Mosshart head-bang at every opportunity made their set all that more enjoyable.

Dressed sharply in suits, Interpol -- who just announced a new album for later this year -- started their show with classics 'Say Hello to Angels,' 'Evil' and 'NYC.' Their great encore featured 'Lights' and their first-ever single, 'Obstacle 1.'

Vampire Weekend closed the final night of the three-day fest with an 18-song set filled with their hits. 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,' 'Horchata,' 'A-Punk' and 'Holiday' all made appearances. And it looked like the band went all out with its stage set, which was more than just a simple backdrop.

They closed out the night, and Governor Ball 2014, with 'Hannah Hunt,' 'One (Blake's Got a New Face)' and 'Walcott,' which had everyone on their feet. A fitting end to a great weekend of music.
