A trailer for the forthcoming Jeff Buckley biopic 'Greetings From Tim Buckley' has hit the Internet. The flick -- no, the title is not a typo -- delves into the early career of Jeff Buckley as he tries to emerge from the shadow of his musician father, Tim Buckley.

'Gossip Girl' star Penn Badgley has been cast as Jeff, topping a cast that also features Frank Woods of 'Flight of the Conchords' as legendary underground New York musician Gary Lucas, Broadway actor Norbert Leo Butz as producer Hal Wilner, Anthrax bassist Frank Bello as Television's Richard Hell and British singer-songwriter Kate Nash in a small role as Jeff's friend Lauren.

Tim Buckley will be played by relative newcomer Ben Rosenfield, while Hollywood utility man William Sadler takes on the role of Lee Underwood, Tim's longtime lead guitarist. Imogen Poots, best known for her role in '28 Weeks Later,' handles the co-lead role of Allie, a young woman Jeff meets at a concert and ends up embarking on a four-day journey with the singer as he prepares to perform at a tribute concert for his estranged father.

'Greetings From Tim Buckley' was written by Dan Algrant, Emma Sheanshang and David Brendel and directed by Dan Algrant ('Naked in New York'). A wide release date has not yet been announced for the movie, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

Meanwhile, an official, as-yet-untitled Jeff Buckley biopic with full backing from the musician's estate is currently in production, with actor Reeve Carney of Broadway's beleaguered musical 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' handling the role of Jeff.
