Not quite a year removed from her acclaimed debut, Courtney Barnett is back with another new song “Three Packs a Day.”

On the jangly new track, Barnett declares, “I’m down to three packs a day,” but she’s not talking about a smoking habit she just can’t kick; she’s, of course, referring to her addiction to ramen. “The MSG taste so good to me / I disagree with all your warnings / It can’t be true they use glue / To keep the noodles stuck together / Two minutes seems like a lifetime / Burn my tongue / Patience is a virtue,” Barnett deadpans in now-signature fashion just before the song gives way to a harmonica solo. Take a listen in the video at the top.

“Three Packs a Day” will appear on the forthcoming six-track compilation Good For You, which features Barnett and fellow Milk! Records labelmates Jen Cloher, the Finks, Fraser A. Gorman, the East Brunswick All Girls Choir and Ouch My Face. The album will arrive just in time for Valentine’s Day; you can pre-order it right here.

Barnett’s tour behind her inaugural full-length Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit continues on Jan. 16 in Sydney. She’ll return to the U.S. in April, when she’ll play Coachella on the 15th and 22nd. She has more North American stops planned through June, culminating with her appearance at Governors Ball in New York City on the 3rd. See the complete itinerary below:
