M.I.A. Gives Technicolor a Run For Its Money in ‘Y.A.L.A.’ Video
Whether it's lyrics, rants or just a little flip of the bird, M.I.A. doesn't shy away from throwing things in our faces. So for her latest video, 'Y.A.L.A.', she takes the idea of color to another level, leaving us shellshocked by the end.
Directed by David Sannwald, the music video highlights everything one can possibly do with color. From glow-in-the-dark to using what looks like the same powder from the 5 K Color Runs that ran this summer, this is not the visual that can leave someone feel like they're about to have seizure. However no matter how many times she contorts her face and makes herself look angry, there is still a beauty to the video and obviously M.I.A. that keeps our eyes glued to the screen.
'Y.A.L.A' was produced by Partysquad and is the latest single off her album, 'Matangsi.' Aside from dropping this video, M.I.A. has been pretty busy. Between a recent gig in New York and performances on 'Conan' and 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' we're likely to see more from her in the coming weeks.
