Pseudonymous street artist Banksy has created his post-apocalyptic take on an amusement park dubbed Dismaland, which doubles as an interactive art exhibition featuring works from 50 artists from around the world. When Dismaland opens its doors to the public later this month, it will also host a series of live performances from the likes of Pussy Riot, Massive Attack and more.

Built in an abandoned seaside resort in Weston-super-Mare, England, Banksy’s exhibition includes such centerpieces as a crumbling Disney World-esque castle, a warped statue of a Little Mermaid lookalike and a pinwheel tangled in plastic (see a park map here). The exhibit's website describes the park as "the latest addition to our chronic leisure surplus":

Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper?
Then this is the place for you. Bring the whole family to come and enjoy the latest addition to our chronic leisure surplus…

The park features artwork by Damien Hirst, Bill Barminski, Caitlin Cherry, Polly Morgan and more, plus 10 new pieces by Banksy. All of the work housed in the so-called “bemusement park” places an emphasis on interactivity with its visitors, including a series of grim rides and games.

In addition to the art on display, there will also be a series of short films that will play 24/7. Likewise, there are a handful of live performances scheduled, including Run the Jewels, Savages, Pussy Riot and Massive Attack. Check out a complete schedule right here.

Dismaland was shrouded in mystery much like its creator. While the 2.5-acre site was erected, signs disguised it as a movie set as to misdirect passers-by. It will open its doors on Aug. 22 and run for five weeks until Sept. 27. Ticket information can be found at this location.
