When the creators behind 'American Horror Story' revealed that the next chapter of the scary FX series was going to be circus themed, picking the right song to set the mood for the show's trailer was the next logical -- and important -- step. They seemed to find the perfect fit with Melanie Martinez's 'Carousel.'

Between an accordion-driven melody and Martinez's whisper-like vocals, the track -- which has hit No. 12 on the iTunes Alternative Songs chart -- adds a quirky yet creepy feel to the already visually interesting trailer featuring Sarah Paulson as the two-headed woman and Kathy Bates as the bearded lady. If Martinez's voice and music sound a bit familiar, you may have seen her on the third season of 'The Voice.' Entrancing 'Voice' judge Adam Levine with her alternative rendition of Britney Spears' 'Toxic,' the 19-year-old took sixth place during the series' season.

However, not taking home the gold didn't stop her as she recently released her first EP, 'Dollhouse,' via Atlantic Records. She is currently working with the hip-hop duo, Kinetics & One Love, on her debut album.

You can get 'Dollhouse' on iTunes now. 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' premieres on FX on Oct. 8.
