Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ Album Cover Baby – Then and Now
Millions upon millions of fans have seen his penis -- and there's absolutely nothing he can do about it. Luckily, the now 20-something Spencer Elden, who was pictured as the nude baby on the cover of Nirvana's multi-platinum 1991 album, 'Nevermind,' seems pretty cool about his brush with infamy.
"When I am introduced, they introduce me as the Nirvana baby," Elden told CNN near the 20th anniversary of the release of 'Nevermind' in September of last year, when he jumped back in the pool (with his shorts on) to recreate the cover. "They usually poke fun at me asking me, 'Is it the same size?' I always say, 'It's changed, do you want to see it?'"
Elden, who is now an artist, explained that he got the gig as a baby because his dad agreed to help a photographer friend out with a project. They went to a local pool, threw him in and snapped away. Elden doesn't receive any royalties from it, but he'll always have a special connection to one of the biggest bands of his generation.
"I like Nirvana a lot and there are no songs that I don't like -- they all have a special place for people," Elden said.
