Prince has announced a somewhat "surprise" U.S. string of dates dubbed the Hit and Run tour, in which he will perform shows with his all-female backing band 3rdEyeGirl across the country. The details -- venues, showtimes, dates -- are yet to be announced; in fact, they won't be unveiled until days (or even hours) before the gig.

The tour will kick off on May 14 in Louisville -- where the band's drummer Hannah Welton grew up -- but the venue is unknown. Tickets for this particular show will go on sale tomorrow (March 9) at 10AM local time, and proceeds will go to local Louisville charities.

Prince curated a tour of the same name that took place in Europe last year, and the venues and times for each show were announced via social media (sometimes minutes before he was set to take the stage). He no longer has a Twitter account (for now), so there's no way to be sure how the singer will release the info. We would suggest joining his mailing list and stay glued to his website.

Prince released not one, but two new studio albums in 2014, Art Official Age, and his first album with 3rdEyeGirl, Plectrumelectrum. He also presented Beck with his Album of the Year at this year's Grammys.
