The live-action commercial for the 'Prototype 2' video game is dark and violent and features an appropriately haunting song.

Johnny Cash's remake of the Nine Inch Nails track 'Hurt' plays during the 96-second spot. The cinematic clip opens with a man standing on top of a building overlooking a chaotic, burning city.

He dives off the ledge and floats down toward the ground. Footage of his slow-motion descent is cut with shots of a military shoot-out, violent beatings, and a newspaper headline reading "Virus Infects New York."

When he finally hits the ground, he plunges through the concrete, causing an earthquake-like ripple in the streets. The video ends just as he's ready to tangle with a scary-looking man with knives for fingers.

'Prototype 2' will be released by Activision on April 24, according to Joystiq. The game is rated M for users ages 17 and up, for intense violence, sexual themes and strong language.

'Hurt,' from Cash's 'American IV: The Man Comes Around,' became the signature song of the legendary artist's later years. The moving music video won an MTV Video Music Award and a Grammy, the latter coming after Cash passed away in September 2003.
