Public Image Limited Announce New Album and Tour
John Lydon and his band of merry pranksters known as Public Image Ltd have announced details for a new album and world tour.
"We are thrilled to announce PiL will release the new studio album, What The World Needs Now...," reads a statement on the band's website. The new album, the band's 10th, will be released Sept. 4 with a world tour to follow. The album's first single, "Double Trouble," will arrive two weeks prior to the LP on August 21 on 10" vinyl and will also include non-LP tracks "Bettie Page" and "Turkey Tits."
The self-financed What The World Needs Now... was recorded at Steve Winwood's Wincraft studio and will be issued on the band's own PiL Official label. Lydon's only comment on the new work is, "Buy now while stocks last."
The lineup remains the same as on 2012's critically-acclaimed This Is PiL with multi-instrumentalist Lu Edmonds, drummer Bruce Smith and bassist Scott Firth joining Lydon to make a beautiful noise.
The 23-date U.K./European tour kicks off Sept. 18 at the Glasgow 02 with U.S. dates to be announced soon. More information can be found at the band's official website.
