Richey Edwards of Manic Street Preachers — Vanished Without a Trace

He is alive and well, hiding out on the Canary Islands. No, he's endlessly wandering the globe. Nope, he's been dead for 17 years.

The truth is, nobody really knows what happened to Richey Edwards, the Manic Street Preachers singer who disappeared from a London hotel on Feb. 1, 1995. Edwards withdrew a large wad of cash, renewed his passport and eventually abandoned his car within walking distance of the Severn Bridge, a notorious suicide spot.

Since then, fans have apparently spotted him in a hippie commune in Goa, India, and on the Canary Islands off the coast of Africa. He was considered a "missing person," and his family continued to look for him until 2008, when his status was changed to "presumed dead." The band has continued on.
