There are several surprises in the public poll for the official nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2015, most notably Stevie Ray Vaughan sitting in the lead with 17.9% of votes.

Coming in strong at second place, however, are Nine Inch Nails with 16.12% of votes, followed by Green Day with 13.45%. Probably the biggest surprise of it all, however, is the fact that the Smiths, are currently in ninth place with only 5.15% of votes. Kraftwerk are polling at 7.82%, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at 7.01%, Lou Reed at 6.42%, Bill Withers at 5.64% and Sting at 5.20% -- they are all polling higher than the Morrissey-fronted indie pop rockers.

There is still plenty of time for you to get your votes in, so these results could very well change. If we had to guess at this point, Nine Inch Nails will probably steal the gold, since Trent Reznor always wins the spotlight nowadays.
