Run the Jewels, Sturgill Simpson + More to Reissue Albums on Pink Vinyl for Cancer Aid Awareness
We already love building up our vinyl collections, and now, we have even more reason -- and a great cause -- to add new records to our stacks. In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, RED Distribution’s Ten Bands One Cause will reissue 10 albums on pink vinyl for the second year in a row.
This year’s participating artists include Run the Jewels, Sturgill Simpson, Ingrid Michaelson, Joey Bada$$, Between the Buried and Me, Chet Faker, Clutch, Al Green, Pierce the Veil and Primus. Each artist will reissue an album (see a complete list below) on pink vinyl in order to promote cancer aid awareness. The albums will be sold in record stores across the country as soon as Sept. 29.
Ten Bands One Cause proceeds will go to Gilda’s Club NYC, a cancer support organization founded by psychotherapist Joanna Bull, along with Gene Wilder, Mandy Patinkin, Joel Siegel and others in memory of Saturday Night Live’s Gilda Radner, who died in 1989 from cancer.
“When someone gets diagnosed with cancer it impacts everyone who is close to them -- in many different ways,” said Gilda’s Club CEO Lily Safani in a statement. “The new ‘routine’ is difficult to manage and navigate alone. But at Gilda’s Club NYC, we help cancer patients and their families learn how to live with a cancer diagnosis -- through our support groups, educational lectures and classes. It’s important to know you aren’t alone and at Gilda’s Club, you never are.”
Last year, Ten Bands One Cause reissued albums from Courtney Barnett, Against Me!, Jason Isbell, Lucius and more.
