For nearly six months, Kid Rock has been contemplating a bid to seek the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate next year. The news has prompted Sheryl Crow, to write a song about her former duet and touring partner.

It started yesterday when someone tweeted a "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" image, saying that the left-leaning Crow "must be rolling in her grave right now." Crow saw it and replied, "Dude. I'm still alive."

As it turned out, Crow was in the studio and threw something together. Six hours later, she tweeted a video of her, Jeff Trott on guitar and Andrew Petroff on percussion performing a song she titled, "Dude, I'm Still Alive." The lyrics begin with he recounting the Twitter exchange, followed by "If Kid Rock runs for Senate / I wouldn't be surprised / But not over my dead body / 'Cause dude, I'm still alive."

In the second verse, she refers to him by his given name, Bob Ritchie, saying that she hoped that, while in office, he would partner with auto manufacturers in his native Detroit to create a tour bus that runs on electricity. But then she called out his love of strippers, singing, "But a pole in the Lincoln Bedroom / Is bound to make some people squirm."

Rock is still determining if there is enough support for him to make a run at Sen. Debbie Stebanow's seat. Earlier this week, he launched a non-profit aimed at voter registration. “The one thing I’ve seen over and over is that although people are unhappy with the government, too few are even registered to vote or do anything about it,” he said. “We have over a year left until an actual election, so my first order of business is to get people engaged and registered to vote while continuing to put out my ideas on ways to help working class people in Michigan and America all while still calling out these jackass lawyers who call themselves politicians.”

Crow and Rock collaborated on the 2002 hit "Picture" and "Collide" eight years later. They toured together in 2011.
