Watch Silversun Pickups’ Mysterious New ‘Nightlight’ Video
As promised, Silversun Pickups have debuted “Nightlight,” the lead single from their upcoming album, Better Nature -- and it’s accompanied by a dark and moody music video.
Directed by Mark Pellington, the clip stars Boardwalk Empire actress Meg Steedle as its troubled protagonist, who opens the video with an ominous voiceover monologue with the admission: “I killed him.” She then spends the duration of the clip in the throes of an American Horror Story-esque hotel. See for yourself in the video up above.
Better Nature is due out Sept. 25 via the Silverlake, Calif.-based band’s own New Machine Recordings. Per frontman Brian Aubert’s description, the album sounds like it will offer dream-like elements similar to those in their newly minted music video. “This album is like its own quantum universe,” he said in a press release. “It’s kind of unstable.”
You can pre-order Better Nature now at the band’s website. The forthcoming LP is the band’s fourth album to date, following 2012’s Neck of the Woods.
Silversun Pickups will soon announce a full-blown North American tour, but for the time being, they have an appearance scheduled at this year’s Independence Jam on Sept. 12 in Oceanside, Calif. Get more details here.
