Throughout his career, Kanye West has made a habit of pushing the boundaries of mainstream hip-hop -- and it sounds like he's getting ready to do it again by collaborating with dubstep kingpin Skrillex.

Skrillex broke the news during a recent interview, saying, "I did some music with Kanye and from what I know, it's actually going to be the first song on his new album." As NME points out, "his new album" could mean one of a couple of things, as West is known to be prepping a new compilation (titled 'Cruel Summer') for release on Sept. 4.

However, given that 'Cruel Summer' is supposed to act as a showcase for the artists signed to West's GOOD label -- and given that West has recently talked about some new songs he's working on for his next full-length effort -- it seems more likely that the West/Skrillex track will end up on whatever serves as the proper follow-up to his last solo LP, 2010's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.'

Wherever it ends up, we can probably rest assured that Skrillex's work with West won't be heard in the new song 'Perfect B---,' which West says he wrote about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. West debuted the track, which finds him sampling 'Carmina Burana,' during his DJ set at New York's PH-D Rooftop Lounge on Aug. 4.
