Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody Shoots ‘Game of Thrones’ Cameo
Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody recently spent time on the set of 'Game of Thrones,' filming a brief scene for the next season of the medieval fantasy HBO television series. The singer revealed his cameo role with a post on the band's Facebook page.
"So I did my scene this morning for 'Game of Thrones,'" he wrote in the post, which is accompanied by the picture to the left of him wearing extremely muddy period garb. "I looked like this. Can't say much just it's no pivotal role. Fun!"
Season three of the show looks to be full of star-studded cameos, with Tara Fitzgerald ('Waking the Dead'), Dame Diana Rigg ('The Avengers'), Mackenzie Crook ('The Office') and Tobias Menzies ('Casino Royale') among the many actors who have signed up for brief roles.
The second season of 'Game of Thrones' recently received a total of 11 Emmy Awards nominations, including a nod for Best Drama. Season one was up for 13 trophies at the 2011 Emmys and won two, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, which went to Peter Dinklage.
There's no chance Lightbody will be winning some hardware for his brief turn on 'Thrones,' but we're still certainly looking forward to seeing him on the show. 'Game of Thrones' is quality television even without one of our favorite mopey British rockers showing up, so it will be a special day indeed when the Patrol singer makes his cameo.
