With the National Geographic miniseries 'The 80's: The Decade That Made Us' set to premiere April 14, it's no surprise that the cable network looked to Austin and SXSW to host a kickoff party worthy of the colorful decade. It also makes sense that that they would tap Girl Talk to provide the big bash's booming soundtrack.

Seeing that everybody loves the '80s, the NatGeo soiree -- which took place Sunday night (March 10) -- was a hot-ticket event. Outside, lucky party-goers strode past '80s relics like Doc Brown's DeLorean, the 'A-Team' van and 'The Dukes of Hazzard' General Lee on their way inside, where Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) spun his irresistible mish-mash of '80-inspired mash-ups, digital samples and plunderphonics to a house full of amped-up dancers. A documentary-style video caught highlights of the action: check it above.
