SXSW 2013 Recap: Day One
At SXSW, you can't be everywhere, and recapping the previous day's goings-on is tough, as festival-goers are generally slow to wake up and locate their clothes, let alone upload videos to the Internet. In any event, we've scoured the web for the highlights from day one (March 12) of SXSW 2013, and while more clips from Tuesday's doings may eventually surface, the following handful of videos give a good indication of what went down in the Texas capital. Matt and Kim
Matt and Kim showered a packed house with a rainbow of colored balloons -- and treated fans to a lively rendition of ‘Lessons Learned’ -- during their Tuesday night performance at the Fader Fort.
Portugal. The Man
Portugal. The Man turned in an epic version of ‘Sleep Forever’ that morphed into the Beatles classic 'Hey Jude' during the Tuesday night SXSW revelry.
Cloud Nothings
Cleveland rockers Cloud Nothings busted out a raucous, ear-rattling and as-yet-untitled new tune during their Tuesday set at the Mohawk.
Delta Spirit
Necks strained upwards towards the heavens at the #DynMMT Music Meets Tech show as singer Matt Vasquez scaled some stage scaffolding and performed high-wire acrobatics while his Delta Spirit mates rocked out nearly 50 feet below.
Icona Pop feat. Charli XCX
British goth-pop chanteuse Charli XCX teamed up with Swedish synth-poppers Icona Pop for a surprise run-through of their homeland hit ‘I Love It' on Tuesday night.
Deadmau5 feat. Richie Hawtin
Austin got its rave on as Deadmau5 hit the decks sans mouse helmet alongside influential minimalist techno artist Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman) at Stubb's BBQ.
