OK, you're really going to like the Black Watch. In fact, we are overflowing with fanboy delight to show you this band. Oh, don't worry if you've never heard of them before. They are Los Angeles' best kept secret.

Fronted by singer John Andrew Frederick, the Black Watch have been kicking amps to stage right since the late '80s. Now they're back with a new album, 'The End of When.'

Frederick, the ever-evolving quartet's lone constant member, has brought aboard former Chills guitarist Steven Schayer to round out a tremendous lineup. Their single 'Meg' sounds like the sonic lovechild of Yo La Tengo and My Bloody Valentine. Say what you what about the genius of Kevin Shields -- Frederick's got him beat by about a billion albums worth of material.

“This song revolves around the singer's appreciation of a woman’s uniqueness and beauty and how he goes all 'ice cream inside' when he thinks of her looking at him 'green-eyed-shyly' through 'imperfect bangs,'" Frederick tells Diffuser.fm.

If you wish the Cure had put out more albums in the early '90s, the Black Watch is for you. Download 'Meg' -- not to be confused with Steely Dan's 'Peg' -- below.
