The Replacements’ Paul Westerberg + Juliana Hatfield Team Up as the I Don’t Cares, Share ‘1/2 2 P’
The Replacements came to a seemingly acrimonious end (for a second time) during their set at Primavera Sound in June, when Paul Westerberg told the audience that show would be the last of their reunion. Now, Westerberg is back with a new band with singer-songwriter Juliana Hatfield.
Westerberg and Hatfield have teamed up as the I Don’t Cares and unveiled their very first single together, “1/2 2 P.” It’s a sweet little ditty that riffs on the ABCs. Stream it below via Spotify or purchase it at Amazon.
As Consequence of Sound reports, the duo will soon drop their debut effort, Wild Stab, but have yet to announce an official release date.
During the Replacements’ Primavera Sound set, Westerberg called his bandmates “lazy bastards to the end” after revealing they didn’t show up for soundcheck. Throughout the band’s reunion jaunt, Westerberg sported shirts each bearing an individual letter. Fans eventually discovered the shirts spelled out, “I have always loved you. Now I must whore my past.”
