Third Man Books Will Release ‘Hidden Water: From the Frank Stanford Archives’ Later This Month
Third Man Records’ publishing house, Third Man Books, will release Hidden Water: From the Frank Stanford Archives, a collection of the American poet’s previously unpublished works, on July 21. Listen to Bill Willett’s recitation of Stanford’s “My Day Is Over” above.
Edited by Copper Canyon Press’ Michael Wiegers and Third Man Books co-founder Chet Weise, Hidden Water, will include 200 pages of Stanford’s poems, drafts and his correspondences with fellow poets Allen Ginsberg, Alan Dugan and others. The book will also feature an audio recording of a Stanford recitation, never-before-seen photos, artwork by Stanford’s wife, Ginny Stanford, and an appreciation written by Steve Stern. You can pre-order Hidden Water now at this location.
A special edition of Hidden Water will also be available for purchase. It will include Third Man Books’ latest title, along with Copper Canyon Press’ own Stanford collection, What About This, prints of Stanford’s poems and artwork and a reproduction of Stanford’s notepad. The special-edition Hidden Water bundle can be pre-ordered here.
Jack White’s Third Man Records launched its publishing arm a year ago, and Hidden Water will serve as its third title to date. Its previous releases include The Truth Is We Are Perfect, a collection of Janaka Stucky’s poetry, and Language Lessons: Volume I, a box set that included a double-LP and an anthology of contemporary poetry and prose.
