The 2012 edition of Britain's annual V Festival ended under the pall of one young concertgoer's unexplained death on Sunday, Aug. 19.

This year's lineup of the two-day festival, which has become an annual August tradition in the U.K. since its inception in 1996, boasted performances by the Killers, the Stone Roses, Nicki Minaj, Keane, Gossip, Tom Jones and many more. Before Sunday's festivities began, the body of a 20-year-old man was discovered in a tent, and despite the efforts of paramedics on the scene, he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have thus far been unable to determine the cause of death for the man, named Timothy Brockhurst. As a police inspector explained to reporters, "We will be preparing a report for Her Majesty's coroner who has already been informed about this incident, and we are working to support those affected by this incident." Another officer added, "Our sympathies are with Timothy's family and friends at this time."

The V Festival issued a statement explaining, "We are all very saddened by this tragic incident, and we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the family of this young man. Our team worked throughout the night to support those affected at the festival site and we want to thank everyone for their cooperation and support during the incident."
