Our sister site Ultimate Classic Rock recently had the pleasure of hanging with Allman Brothers Band, Gov’t Mule and solo favorite Warren Haynes in their NYC studios. During their exclusive video interview, the guitarist discusses Gov’t Mule’s new star-studded album ‘Shout!’ and reveals that the first new Allman Brothers studio album in over a decade might be on its way sooner than later.

Haynes also treated UCR to solo acoustic versions of two songs from ‘Shout!’ and a gorgeous cover of Elvis Costello‘s classic ballad, ‘Alison.’

‘Shout!’ is a 2-disc affair that features guest appearances from Costello, Steve Winwood and Dr. John. “The idea to add the bonus CD with all the guest vocalists didn’t come about until midway through the recording,” Haynes told the site. “I had written a song, ‘Funny Little Tragedy,’ that I thought would be perfect for Elvis Costello. But I had not reached out to him to sing, I only called for his advice on how to go about recording the song because it was so different than anything we had ever done. [It was] more like some of his early music and less like our early music.”

Next summer, it's safe to say Haynes and Gov't Mule will be at the Mountain Jam festival, which will go down at Hunter Mountain, N.Y. from June 5-8 , 2014. A limited quantity of Pre-Sale tickets will be available to the general public on Tuesday, 11/19, at 10am ET through Friday, 11/22, at midnight WHILE SUPPLIES LAST! Don’t forget, as the pre-sale has sold out for the last two years! Head here for more information on the festival and tickets.
